Turkish Specialized Dental Publication (TSDP) is committed to maintaining transparent, fair, and clearly defined publication procedures. This policy outlines the general principles governing Article Processing Charges (APCs), publication-related services, payment procedures, financial assistance, refunds, and other applicable financial arrangements for journals published by TSDP.
Publication fees and related conditions may vary among individual journals. Authors are therefore expected to consult the official website and Author Guidelines of their selected journal before submitting a manuscript.
1. Article Processing Charges
Article Processing Charges (APCs) may vary depending on the journal, its publishing model, and the services associated with article production and dissemination.
Authors must consult the official website and Author Guidelines of their selected journal for accurate and current information concerning applicable publication charges, payment requirements, and any available financial assistance.
All applicable publication charges should be clearly communicated to authors before they are required to make a payment.
The payment or non-payment of an APC must not influence manuscript evaluation, reviewer selection, peer-review recommendations, or final editorial decisions.
2. What the Article Processing Charge Covers
Where applicable, the Article Processing Charge contributes to the editorial, technical, production, and publication infrastructure required to manage and disseminate scholarly research.
Depending on the services provided by the relevant journal, APC-supported activities may include:
Editorial Administration and Peer-Review Coordination: Management of manuscript submissions, editorial correspondence, reviewer invitations, and peer-review workflows.
DOI Registration and Assignment: Registration and maintenance of Digital Object Identifiers through the journal's designated DOI registration arrangements.
Copyediting and Language Refinement: Editorial preparation intended to improve clarity, consistency, terminology, and conformity with the journal's publication standards.
Typesetting and Article Formatting: Preparation of accepted manuscripts in the journal's required electronic publication formats.
Publication Proof Preparation: Production of article proofs for final author review and correction.
Production Quality Assurance: Verification of article formatting, bibliographic information, metadata, and other production-related elements before publication.
Open-Access Publication and Online Hosting: Online publication and access to articles in accordance with the journal's publishing model and licensing arrangements.
Metadata Preparation and Dissemination: Creation, verification, and distribution of bibliographic metadata to relevant scholarly communication services.
Indexing and Discoverability Support: Technical preparation and dissemination activities intended to facilitate the discoverability and potential indexing of published research.
Digital Archiving and Preservation: Maintenance of appropriate electronic storage, backup, and preservation arrangements to support long-term access to the scholarly record.
The provision of indexing-related services does not guarantee acceptance or continued inclusion in any particular abstracting or indexing database. Such decisions remain the responsibility of the relevant indexing organization.
Payment of an APC does not constitute payment for manuscript acceptance and does not influence the scientific or editorial evaluation of submitted research.
3. Payment Process
Where an Article Processing Charge applies, the corresponding author will receive an official invoice or payment notification following formal acceptance of the manuscript.
The invoice should clearly identify the applicable publication charge, payment currency, authorized payment method, and relevant payment instructions.
The corresponding author is responsible for arranging payment, either directly or through an authorized co-author, academic institution, research funder, employer, or other approved funding source.
Where payment is required before publication, the accepted manuscript will normally proceed to final production and publication after the applicable payment has been confirmed.
Authors must follow only the payment instructions issued through the journal's or publisher's authorized communication channels.
Payments should not be made through unofficial channels, unverified payment requests, or personal accounts that have not been expressly authorized by the publisher.
Any questions regarding invoices, payment verification, or publication-related financial arrangements should be directed to the relevant journal's editorial or administrative office.
4. Waiver and Discount Policy
Turkish Specialized Dental Publication recognizes the importance of equitable participation in scholarly publishing and supports transparent consideration of financial assistance where such arrangements are available.
Depending on the policies and financial resources of the relevant journal, full or partial APC waivers or discounts may be offered to eligible authors.
Eligibility may be assessed according to internationally recognized country-income classifications, institutional circumstances, funding availability, or other criteria established by the journal.
Where a waiver or discount scheme is available, authors should submit their requests at the time of manuscript submission and in accordance with the journal's published procedures.
Requests submitted after manuscript acceptance may not be eligible for consideration, depending on the applicable journal policy.
Waiver and discount applications must be handled independently of the scientific evaluation and peer-review process.
Requesting financial assistance must not influence reviewer selection, editorial assessment, manuscript acceptance, or rejection.
Reviewer-Based Discounts
Where a journal operates a reviewer-recognition or APC-discount program, eligible reviewers may receive publication-fee reductions according to the conditions established in the relevant journal's reviewer policy.
Such arrangements may take into account the number, quality, timeliness, and completeness of peer-review reports.
Any reviewer-based discount must be subject to appropriate verification and must not influence the content of reviewer reports or compromise editorial independence.
Unless otherwise specified by the relevant journal, reviewer discounts are granted to the eligible individual, are non-transferable, and must be requested before invoicing.
Authors and reviewers should consult the applicable journal website for current waiver eligibility, discount rates, reviewer-recognition arrangements, and related conditions.
5. Refund Policy
Article Processing Charges are generally non-refundable once an accepted manuscript has entered the production process and substantive publication-related services have commenced, subject to applicable law and the journal's published refund conditions.
Production-related activities may include:
Copyediting and editorial preparation.
Typesetting and article formatting.
Preparation and correction of publication proofs.
DOI registration and related identifier services.
Preparation and distribution of article metadata.
Processing and preparation for online publication.
Refund requests submitted before the commencement of production may be considered individually in accordance with the relevant journal's financial and administrative policies.
Approval of a refund is not guaranteed and may depend on the circumstances of the request, the stage of publication processing, services already provided, and applicable legal obligations.
Where a refund is approved, bank charges, currency-conversion costs, transaction fees, or other non-refundable third-party expenses may be deducted where permitted by applicable law and the relevant payment terms.
Authors should contact the appropriate journal or publisher office to obtain clarification concerning refund eligibility and procedures.
6. Currency, Taxes, and Transaction Charges
Publication charges are stated and invoiced in the currency specified by the relevant journal or on the official invoice issued by the publisher.
The applicable payment currency, accepted payment methods, and any additional financial obligations should be communicated clearly to authors before payment is requested.
Unless otherwise specified in the official payment terms or required by applicable law, bank charges, transfer fees, currency-conversion costs, transaction fees, and applicable taxes are the responsibility of the author, institution, or funding organization making the payment.
Where such charges are payable by the author or funding organization, the full invoiced amount must be received before payment can be considered complete.
Authors are encouraged to verify the applicable currency, payment instructions, and transaction requirements before initiating payment.
7. Policy Updates
Turkish Specialized Dental Publication may review and revise this Publishing Policy when necessary to reflect changes in operational procedures, applicable legislation, financial arrangements, technical infrastructure, or scholarly publishing practices.
Material amendments should be clearly communicated through the publisher's or relevant journal's official website.
Unless otherwise required by applicable law or expressly stated in the revised policy, changes to publication charges, waiver conditions, refund arrangements, or other financial requirements should apply prospectively to manuscripts submitted on or after the effective date of the updated policy.
Authors are responsible for consulting the current version of the relevant journal's Publishing Policy and Author Guidelines before submitting a manuscript.
For inquiries concerning publication charges, payment procedures, waivers, discounts, refunds, or other publishing-related matters, authors may contact Turkish Specialized Dental Publication through its official communication channels.
