Author Resources and Publication Guide

Welcome to the Author Resources section of Turkish Specialized Dental Publication (TSDP). This page provides authors with an overview of the manuscript preparation, submission, editorial assessment, peer-review, acceptance, and publication procedures followed by journals published by TSDP.

TSDP supports responsible scholarly publishing and the dissemination of scientifically rigorous research in dentistry, oral health sciences, and related biomedical disciplines.

Detailed submission requirements—including manuscript structure, formatting specifications, reference styles, article categories, ethical declarations, reporting guidelines, and supplementary documentation—are provided in the Author Guidelines of each journal.

Authors are required to consult the relevant journal's Author Guidelines and editorial policies before preparing and submitting a manuscript.

Publishing Process

1. Choose a Journal

Authors should select a journal whose aims, scope, subject coverage, and intended readership are appropriate for their research.

Before submission, authors are encouraged to review the journal's aims and scope, accepted article types, Author Guidelines, peer-review procedures, publication-ethics requirements, and applicable publication charges.

Selecting an appropriate journal helps ensure that the submitted manuscript is relevant to the journal's academic objectives and editorial requirements.

2. Prepare Your Manuscript

Manuscripts must be prepared in accordance with the Author Guidelines of the selected journal.

Before submission, authors should ensure that:

  • The manuscript complies with the journal's structural, formatting, language, and reference requirements.

  • All figures, tables, references, supplementary files, and supporting documents are complete, accurate, and appropriately identified.

  • All listed authors have reviewed and approved the final submitted version of the manuscript.

  • Necessary permissions have been obtained for copyrighted or third-party materials.

  • Required declarations concerning ethics approval, informed consent, consent for publication, funding, data availability, author contributions, and competing interests are included, where applicable.

  • The research is original, accurately reported, and has not been published previously in substantially the same form, except where prior dissemination is permitted and appropriately disclosed.

  • The manuscript is not simultaneously under consideration by another journal.

  • Applicable study-specific reporting guidelines have been followed.

Authors are responsible for ensuring the accuracy, completeness, originality, and ethical integrity of all submitted materials.

3. Submit Your Manuscript

Manuscripts must be submitted through the official online manuscript submission system of the selected journal.

The corresponding author is responsible for completing the submission process, providing the required information and documentation, and ensuring that all co-authors have approved the submission.

A manuscript must not be submitted to more than one journal simultaneously.

Duplicate or simultaneous submission is not permitted unless explicitly authorized under the applicable journal's policies.

Authors should retain relevant submission confirmations and monitor subsequent editorial communications through the journal's designated manuscript management system.

4. Initial Editorial Assessment

Following submission, each manuscript undergoes a preliminary editorial assessment conducted by the Editor-in-Chief or another appropriately authorized editor.

This assessment determines whether the manuscript:

  • Falls within the journal's stated aims and scope.

  • Complies with the applicable Author Guidelines.

  • Includes all required manuscript files, supplementary materials, and declarations.

  • Meets relevant research-ethics and publication-integrity requirements.

  • Demonstrates sufficient originality, academic quality, methodological suitability, and clarity to warrant further evaluation.

Where applicable, manuscripts may also undergo originality and similarity screening.

Following preliminary assessment, manuscripts considered potentially suitable for publication may undergo an internal evaluation by qualified members of the Editorial Board before proceeding to external peer review.

Manuscripts that do not satisfy essential requirements may be returned for technical correction or rejected without external peer review.

5. Double-Blind Peer Review

Manuscripts selected for external review are evaluated through a double-blind peer-review process, in which the identities of authors and reviewers are concealed from one another.

Each manuscript proceeding to external review is assessed by at least two independent reviewers with appropriate subject-specific or methodological expertise.

Reviewers evaluate manuscripts according to criteria including:

  • Originality and contribution to scientific knowledge.

  • Relevance to the journal's aims and scope.

  • Appropriateness of the research design and methodology.

  • Accuracy and validity of data analysis and interpretation.

  • Compliance with applicable ethical standards.

  • Clarity, completeness, and organization of scientific reporting.

  • Reliability of the conclusions and their consistency with the reported findings.

Authors may be requested to revise their manuscripts in response to editorial and reviewer comments.

Revised manuscripts must be accompanied by a detailed response explaining how each relevant comment has been addressed.

Where external reviewers provide substantially conflicting recommendations, an additional independent reviewer may be consulted in accordance with the journal's peer-review procedures.

6. Editorial Decision

Following peer review, the responsible editor evaluates the reviewers' reports, the scientific merits of the manuscript, and any responses or revisions submitted by the authors.

Possible editorial decisions include:

  • Accept: The manuscript satisfies the journal's publication requirements and is accepted for publication.

  • Minor Revision: Limited amendments or clarifications are required before a final decision can be reached.

  • Major Revision: Substantial scientific, methodological, analytical, or structural modifications are required.

  • Reject with Invitation to Resubmit: The manuscript requires extensive additional work but may be considered as a new submission following substantial revision.

  • Reject: The manuscript does not meet the journal's scientific, methodological, ethical, or editorial requirements.

A decision requesting revision does not guarantee eventual acceptance.

The final publication decision is made by the Editor-in-Chief or another authorized editor, taking into account the reviewers' assessments, the manuscript's academic merit, and the journal's editorial policies.

7. Article Processing Charges

Article Processing Charges (APCs) and other publication-related fees may vary among journals published by TSDP.

Authors must consult the official website and Author Guidelines of their selected journal for accurate and current information regarding applicable publication charges, payment procedures, and any available waiver or discount arrangements.

Where an APC applies, payment is requested following formal acceptance of the manuscript in accordance with the relevant journal's published financial policies.

Authors are not required to pay an APC as a condition of obtaining a favorable peer-review recommendation or an acceptance decision.

Payment of an APC does not guarantee manuscript acceptance and must not influence reviewer selection, peer-review assessments, editorial recommendations, or final publication decisions.

The applicable access model and licensing conditions are determined by the policies of the relevant journal.

8. Post-Publication Responsibilities and Manuscript Withdrawal

Authors are expected to cooperate with the editorial office if corrections, expressions of concern, or retractions become necessary after publication. Authors may request the withdrawal of their manuscript by submitting a written explanation to the editorial office of the journal. No withdrawal fee applies to manuscripts withdrawn before formal acceptance. If withdrawal is requested after acceptance and production has commenced, reasonable and documented production costs may apply, where appropriate.

9. Production and Publication

Following formal acceptance and completion of the applicable publication requirements, the manuscript enters the journal's production process.

Production activities may include copyediting, language refinement, typesetting, formatting, bibliographic verification, metadata preparation, and final quality-control procedures.

Authors are normally provided with publication proofs for final review.

The corresponding author is responsible for checking the proofs carefully and identifying typographical, formatting, or production-related errors within the timeframe specified by the journal.

Substantive changes to the scientific content after acceptance may require additional editorial approval.

Following completion of the production process and approval of the final proofs, the article is published online in accordance with the journal's publication schedule, access model, and licensing arrangements.

Copyright and Licensing

Authors retain copyright in their scholarly work, subject to the copyright and licensing terms established by the relevant journal.

Upon acceptance, authors grant Turkish Specialized Dental Publication or the relevant publishing journal a non-exclusive license to publish, reproduce, distribute, index, archive, and preserve the article in accordance with the agreed publication terms.

The applicable Creative Commons license, where used, is specified in the journal's copyright and licensing policies and should be clearly displayed on the published article webpage and in the final PDF.

Authors should consult the relevant journal's copyright and licensing requirements before submitting their manuscript.

Publication Ethics

All authors submitting manuscripts to TSDP journals are required to comply with the applicable research-integrity, editorial, and publication-ethics policies.

These requirements may include:

  • Originality and prevention of plagiarism or redundant publication.

  • Appropriate authorship attribution and author contributions.

  • Disclosure of financial and non-financial competing interests.

  • Research ethics approval and informed consent, where applicable.

  • Consent for publication of identifiable patient information or clinical images.

  • Clinical-trial registration, where required.

  • Accurate reporting of research data and findings.

  • Compliance with applicable copyright and intellectual-property requirements.

Authors should consult the selected journal's Author Guidelines and relevant editorial policies for complete requirements.

Author Support

Authors seeking clarification concerning manuscript preparation, submission procedures, peer review, editorial decisions, publication charges, copyright, licensing, or production requirements should consult the relevant journal's Author Guidelines or contact its editorial office.
